Insomnia after taking tylenol 3

CrazyTaurensWife posted:
Does anyone else have this problem? It only happens after I've had to take tylenol 3s repeatedly during the day and the last dose I've taken is within a few hours of bedtime. I have nights off and on when I'm awake due to pain, but this is different. The meds I take at night (gabapentin and elavil (amitriptylline)) along with another dose of tylenol 3s were keeping the pain down enough I should have been able to sleep.

Sometimes too much codeine makes your thoughts race, and it's difficult to shut down long enough to sleep. You might want to talk with your doc!

He's already told me he won't put me on anything else (even when I told him taking 2 every 4 hours barely takes the edge off on my bad days). One of my coworkers and I were talking about my pain levels and meds the other day. She asked who my doctor was and when I said who it was, she basically said "that explains it..."

I just got off the phone with my dad, who told me it's not uncommon. Something about a paradoxical reaction? I think I need a few more hours of sleep to make sense tonight

Sounds like you need to find a new doctor.
