I was just recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia after being in constant pain now for a little over 7 months. First they said I had a vitamin D defiency, and then after running more and more tests of everything being normal my doctor said that she believes that I have fibromyalgia. Well that explains it, now how do I help with the pain? I have changed my diet completely taking out red meats, sugars, caffiene and processed foods. I have been exercising on my good days. What else can I do? We are a very active family that loves hiking, camping, and fishing, and I haven't been able to do all of that because of the pain. And on top of that, I have a 4 year old and a 10 month old. It is so difficult to keep up with them all day. Do the symptoms ever get better? I just hate not feeling right, I have zero energy but I am expected to do soo much. My husband knows I hurt but he doesn't realize how bad it is and what I feel like, and doesn't seem to believe me.

Did your doctor give you any type of medication to try for Fibro? There are many out there than can help you. It will be a trial & error for everyone reacts different to medication.

Are you on Vit d & B12, also I am going to assuem your thyroid levels were checked if so I hope your TSH was below 3.0. Hypothyroidism is so close with Fibro.

You are doing the right thing in continuing to keep active. It is not easy...but try if you can. As far as fatigue I wish I had an answer for you, but that is one symptoms that for me has yet to go away. I still work however, I try to stay active & do what I can when I can.

Many here will tell you to pace yourself...As far as your husband he needs to be sharing the house chores at home regardless if you are ill or not...

Try taking him to a doctor visit.

You will learn to manage your symptoms and some symptoms may even improve as you try different medications and treatments.

As mentioned in the previous reply, you will learn you will need to pace yourself. Talk to you Dr about the different medications. I am on an antidepressant and that has helped. My regular Dr and rhuematologist encourage me to get plenty of rest and exercise. Learning ways to reduce stress is also important - of course, getting good sleep and some exercise will help with the stress. I have found regular massage to be very helpful for stress management as well as helping to reduce the tension in certain muscles.

If you're not sleeping well, you might consider getting a memory foam mattress or mattress topper. I have also found a memory foam pillow is good for my neck.

What works for one person may not work for another. Trial and error is part of the process.

This community is great with support and suggestions. I'm sure others will chime in with some additional information.

Zhan,

Welcome to the group!

I know the begining of the dx'd can be a frustrating time. Medicine trials and changes. Not very fun. After three years, I am still trying to find the right combination.

We were a very active family too. We still are to a certain extent. I find that mornings are best for me so we try to do our thing in the morning. And st in the afternoon. My life completely changed with fibro. I no longer work due to it also.

I hope your doctor has began the medicine trials. It does get easier as time goes on. You will learn what you can handle. In the mean time listen to your body and rest when you can.

I agree that you should take your hubby to a doctor apt. I did that with my hubby early on and had the rhuemy exsplain it to him. That really helped open his eyes and understand what I was going through. Also have him research it online. Education is the key to your DH for understanding. He is wonderful about watching me and knowing when Ihabe had enough. He also helps around the houses quite a bit.

Kim
