    What is in your bag of tricks?

    Good morning everyone!

    I was wondering what non medical tricks you use to help you through pain and stress. What do you use to cope with stress and pain? What do you use to just feel calmer?

    I use:
    guided meditation recordings
    a book of daily affirmations
    gentle exercise
    listening to music
    gentle massage
    peppermint shower gel

    I have some aromatherpy lotions and pillow spray for Sleep and relaxation. (found at Bath and Body Works)

    I also have some relaxing music I like to listen to.

    A DVD of gentle yoga.

    Music is very soothing for me. I enjoy Barry Manilow, Michael Buble and others.

    I also have a great app called Relax Melodies. I can create my own background noise (it's a great help when my head won't shut up and let me sleep). Right now I play "white noise night sounds", it's like an untuned AM radio with crickets/spring peepers.

    I take yoga once or twice a week, depending on my schedule.

    Sometimes just being quiet helps.

    Distraction (work, puzzles, computer games, movies, reading)
    Getting out into nature
    Hot showers
    Good friends

    Relaxation apps
    Hot whirlpool baths
    massage if I can afford one
    petting and talking to my dog
    scented candles (I love Gold Canyon)
    accomplishing something, even if it's a little thing

    Today I had the misfortune of falling twice. I went flying both times. It seems to be a habit lately. Every bone and muscle in my body aches tremendously. Just got out of the tub and now I can't stop sweating. I'm too old for this.

    My best stress reliever is my 2 cats and my English mastiff.

    The cats are great for that daily giggle...and the dog is wonderful when I just need to hug something warm and cry a little.
