OK lets use this place as a poll taker too. How many besides Linda have had to deal with this stuff.

I have a retinal wrinkle it is a couple of yerars...apparently the jelly in the eye changes with age and pulls at the retina.

It pulled this one day and tore (separated) the membrane on the retina then when it returned to its place it had a wrinle to the layer.

I have touble seeing past the wrinkle. Saw 3 doctors and the retinal specialist finally spoke english enough to explain it to me.

Then what happened now is the jelly has totally separated from the retina. A TOTAL VITROEUS DETACHMENT.

He said I dodge a big bullet in that it didn't tear the retina, just pulled on it. I bled into the eye and that is these BLACK floaters I have not the ameeba (I know that is not the spelling) ones we all have had.

I will continue to have the flashes of lightening for a while I guess...I am still having them and he gave me a pamphlet on this, it says weeks to months. As I use the eye it makes the jelly bump against the retinal and it bothers the optic nerve.

As I say to all of us EVERYONE GET SOMETHING. Well now I have 2 somethings. Vision on the Left eye is foggy/ hazy and not easy...as well as the dance with this dragon.

Love you all, Nancy B

Hello Nana B.....so what can the eye doctor do to help this? Anything?

I also have eye issues and I had the floaters at one time but mine finally went away...or I do not notice them now...like I did in the beginning...my eyes are dry, teary, itchy and blurry...I hate to drive at night and for the most part don't...I have enough problems driving during the day...especially when I have to get on the interstate.

It stinks getting old, doesn't it? But we do not have no choice, now do we? We either die young or grow old...I was hoping to grow old *gracefully*...but with the wrath of the dragon hanging around me...I know that is not going to happen either...

I hope things get better for you...

Oh, by the way...I am not completely ready for Christmas...I have my shopping done but that is all...it just might come and go and I might not be ready when it gets here...but I am not going to sweat it...what will be, will be...

Have a good day.

Hi Nancy, and I hope your vision improves quicker than predicted. We tend to take our sight for granted until there is a problem, and then we really worry.

I have not had your type of retina problem, but I understand about those bright flashes of light as I had optic neuritis years ago. I still have flashes when I look to the sides right after the lights go out. My pupil is slow to react to changes in light.

I sure hope your eye is back to healthy soon. Are there any vitamins or foods that can help that gel issue?

Hugs to you.
With Compassion,
Margaret

Thanks guys.

No there are no vitamins for this...that is so funny as that is the last line in the pamphlet....vitamins will NOT help this condition.

Maybe people were overdosing on Vit A !* Ha...

It is so very difficult to see witht he webs in the way. The right eye is not dominant and I have halos to lights in the left eye, so fuzzy is involoved.

I am still fearful....so fearful I broke out in an excema rash last night and cortisone was everywhere.......

IT IS WHAT IT IS but dang....now? Just before the holidays and I need to see at work.

Life never hands you something when YOU want it. Life is about "learning to dance in that rain" not just complain about the rain.....find the joy and beauty in the rain...............

I will get there.

If I keep the lights on I don't get the lightening strikes (well I don't SEE them)

Spirits are low so I am heading out for the day right after laundry.....I have to distract myself. It could be worse then this.
Dragon was here this a.m. too....even the face hurts! CRAP.

Hope the joy of the season fills the house today! Hugs, Nancy B

Nancy, I know what you are going thru, because I have diabetic retinopathy that has made my right eye pretty useless. I have to wear a patch over my right eye when I'm using the computer at work and home because all the right eye does is distort everything. I have bleeds on my retina and unless and until they clear, I can't drive because my vision in my left eye is only 20/50 with glasses and in Florida the good eye has to be 20/40 or better to drive. Plus I almost hit a bicyclist on the way to work one day before my eyes got even worse. (cataracts on both eyes, ughh) So I feel your frustration. I've been having laser treatments and even a shot in my eye to stop the growth of the blood vessels, but now I might need surgery to remove the vitreous fluid and replace it with saline or something to clear the blood so I can see. Now I'm in a flare I think because of stress, so I'm trying to at least make it til lunch to take a muscle relaxant so I won't sleep the whole day away. Anyway, that's my vent for the day. I hope your eye gets better soon! I know what you mean about being fearful. I pray and I know God has a purpose in all of this, but it can get depressing.

Yikes! I too hope you heal faster than predicted. I know it can't be easy at work with your vision out of whack. I hope you find the distraction you are looking for and that you are in better spirits later. Just remember that this too shall pass...and hopefully soon! My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Oh glad to be here...thank you so much for sharing your story. I needed to hear SOMEONE has had a path like this. I tried to shop yesterday and it was so difficult to read the labels....

It was raining so no sunshine on my head.....with all I was dealing with I lost my envelope shopping list with my coupons in there....on the envelope was the last bit of Christmas shopping I needed to do. ALSO THE 30% offf coupon for Kohl's that they sent me. I checked out and then walked all over the store looking for it.......no coupons to help with check out and then the BIG loss...Kohl's .

I was sharing it with my neighbor so she could finish shopping too. So I called her and said "God giveth and God taketh away" I am hoping that someone who really needed it *found it...

BUT I left the store in a B A D low....body feels in a flare and I was exhausted to carry the bags in, the coupon gone and the list I made near existent in my mind as to what I was getting .

So I crawled into a ball and just slept after. Sleeping helps me not see* the eye....sleeping takes the dragon from my side a bit...CRAP.....I am overwhelmed with all of this and the weeks ahead. Not myself.

The pity party was at my house. I have shots today and will also drop this all on the neurologist......

Hope today is a good day for you.....Nancy B

Nancy, now that I know what is going on with your eyes I can tell you I am facing the same thing. I fell a few years ago, banged my head pretty hard on the left side. Knocked 6 teeth loose, cracked one so bad it had to be taken out and took my jaw outta place. Went to all kinds of doctors and an eye surgeon. All the tests looked good, but the eye surgeon
did find that the gel behind my left eye was thin. After the fall I noticed I had floaters so went back He said that for right now I will see the floaters but not to worry yet.

He said that one day tho the gel will thin so much that it will move away from my retina. Nothing can be done and there's nothing I can take to help it not happen. He said should I suddenly lose the vision in the left eye I should get to an ER . :-_ Okay, I can do that but am hopeful that I don't have to any year soon.

I had cataract surgery a over a year ago and the doctor said, for now, it's 20/20 but will fall to way less at times. Yea I got that. I have poor vision in the left eye at times and blurry vision at others. I don't have the floaters much, but when I do I worry that the gel is ready to move away from the eye. It's hard to sit and wait for the eye to go blind.

And your so right, dang if it isn't one thing, it's another.

We FM ers are a tough bred aren't we!

Just thought I'd share my eye issues with you and let you know I do so understand how you are feeling.
