Good morning,
May I suggest that you look into the clinic at a large teaching facility in your neck of the woods...or travel if you must. In that clinic will be Neurology (who covers migraines and so data has yeilded that migraine like pain can be neck and muscle related...)
So, if I were in your shoes I would look for that HUGE tertiary hospital(medical center)......and call the main number, ask for the clinic for rheumatology and also look inot neurology and see who has an opening..........the other way into that clinic is to be seen in the ER...and the residents and fellows will refer you to be seen in the clinic. (Not the best way to use the system, but it might be the only way right now to begin a relationship wit them).
I am sorry this is always a problem when people move. You sound proactive and just get all your problems and issues in line and all the things you do to be BETTER as well. Be consise on the paper and let them learn of you. Have the doctor who treated you last send you a cover letter to bring to the place as well.
Another thing I want to point out. The person booking you a spot on the roster is NOT A NURSE, NOT A DOCTOR and often have HS training.............They have alot of power when they turn away people or make decisions to book out*...(later then sooner) people who need to be seen.
I make friends right away with that person.....
Life is a game and I try to play it well. Sad, but it is true. I bribe every office I go to.....dentist, neuro, PMD...they all get cookies, fruit...they all know me well. I never go empty handed even the littlest of things.....the thought is remembered.
Even Stella d'oro breakfast treats were handed to the PMD's girls to go with coffee....a can of coffee...
I gave the dentist clementines...5.00 just said, Hey it's flu season...I don't want you getting sick!! Goes a long way..
So try the medical center idea and remember the hugging to get in the door or result to the ER for the referral........
Good luck, Nancy B
