Hello Vicki....and welcome...MiMi in NC...when I was
sick years ago I was like this too....and it ended up being my gall bladder. Now...I will also tell you this much as well...I have been sick like this other times, after I did NOT have a gall bladder any longer. The doctor told me that pain can cause the sickness as well. For several months I have had low back pain and I truly thought it was kidney stones...(actually, I still think it is)....anyway....I would wake up sick and be sick off and on all day....I did this for several weeks and one day it stopped....I went to a specialist and he told me that I had kidney stones in both kidneys but he did not think they were causing me to be sick or the lower pain in my back either.

Nothing helps it except a heating pad. I still have it and it bothers me to walk or to sit. So it is a no win situation for me. I hate it and there is nothing that I can do about it. I still have the kidney stones and I still think this is my entire problem with the lower back. I'm not a doctor just the patient who knows my body pretty well....especially by now.

A few years ago I was really sick and the doctor kept treating me for depression. I finally did my own research and thought I had *parathyroid problems*....which I finally told the doctor what I thought....he told me that I did NOT have parathyroid problems. I ended up telling him that I wanted the scan to see....he did not want me to have it due to the expense of the scan. I insisted and told him that I wanted him to prove to me that I did NOT have it. I actually gave him no choice in the matter....(we, FMers, need to remember that the doctor works for us....as we have to pay them for the work that they do....anyway, to make a long story short.....I had parathyroid problems which needed surgery. (another story there as well).

So my point is this.....if you continue to be sick and you think it is something else....then I would indeed get another opinion.

It is not a good thing when you are sick off and on all day long, especially when it goes on for a long period of time.

I do hope you will get to the root of your problem....as sometimes, this is what we have to do before we feel any better.

One way to find out if it is your gall bladder....eat something tomato based...(spaghetti, pizza) to see IF this makes you sicker than you have been. I learned this *tidbit* when I was having issues.

Take care and good luck.

The nausea has been atleast a month now...
A friend of mine had a scope today for nausea, although she does not have Fibromyalgia, they found she has a Hiatus Hernia and an ulcer. I may have to have a scope.

Vicki,

There's a reason why we say we "got sick" when we toss those cookies. Nausea and vomiting make you FEEL sick.
Hopefully your doctor will find the cause soon.

It's no fun feeling awful. Be good to yourself in other ways.
When you think it's safe stomachwise, take a nice long bath.
Do whatever you can to soothe the rest of you. Sometimes the digetive system is just the way we show the symptoms of stress. Many of us have irritable bowel syndrome; we can eat it, but it doesn't stay in for long.

Are you able to stay hydrated with clear liquids? Some of us like warm drinks like broth or herb teas. I like to sip cold drinks slowly. I smash up some ice cubes and add them to my apple juice or other clear, cold liquid. That way I get the taste of apple juice but 1/2 or less the sugar and calories AND plenty of water in the form of ice.

Try to enjoy your weekend. Please let us know how you are doing. We care about you, Vicki.

I understand how bad you must feel, have you tried some over the counter things.

Ginger ale is one thing that's been known to help, along with peppermint tea.

won't hurt to try it,

it also just tastes good. drink it all the time.

Thanks everyone for the help... I need blood work done, but don't have a doctor just yet. I used to, but no longer have health insurance. I had my gall bladder out years ago, so I know it's not that. All of the girls in my family have thyroid issues, except me, although it has not been checked lately. Am hoping to get in to see the doc who sees folks with limited income and maybe get some answers. You all are wonderful!!

I get nausea "spells." I take compazine for the really bad times, but I usually feel better with sitting, a couple crackers and some water or gingerale. Peppermint candies help and are always in my purse. Also nibbling on candied ginger helps.

I hope you find some medical care that's affordable. You are not alone with that situation!
With Compassion,
Margaret

Good morning,

There are a few reasons for nausea. It can be bacteria in the gut that doesn't belong there, motility to the system is down from disease or your meds, or as Mimi stated yoru gall bladder is not functioning right. ALL should be looked at by GI.

Taking phenergan or compazine or any of the phenothiazines is just helping your brain cope with it.....look into the cause of it.
It can be as simple as a dietary change as well (gluten) etc.

There are meds like reglan that help the gut move better. I just had an instance with someone who needed a muscle relaxant and got so nauseas from it. "relaxing" the gut muscles were part of the Rx dose she used....so sleeping it off and waiting til the med was halfway through its' strength helped alot. I asked her not to eat until after 2 hours...all was well after that.

So again, there are many causes for the complaint. To have it all day and not "after eating", "when I lay down", morning versus evening all tells the doctor things.

Please see a gastroenterologist as you shouldn't be nauseas all day. Your body is telling you something.
