Happy New Year 2014*****1/1/2014*****

Happy New Year 2014...OUT with the old, IN with the NEW. Here is hoping this year will be a good year for us all...hopefully with little to no pain. I know that I have found that the more I learn about the wrath of the dragon, aka FM, the better I can learn how to *dance with the dragon, instead of draggin the dragon*, as Nana B. says. This is a process and it does take a while to find the right combination of tools that just might make a difference in how you cope. At least there is HOPE.

MiMi in NC and it is going to be a nice day with temps in 50's today and tomorrow but COLD weather headed our way by Friday. 18* on Saturday. Overall though, NC has had a mild winter so far. I am ready for SPRING.

I hope each of you had a good night's rest and I hope today will be a good day for us all.

Welcome to the new members who have joined our support group. I hope you will check out the info here under *tips* and *resources* and be sure and read the *member toolbox*...where you will find some good *tools* to try.

Vitamin D. Do some research on how important Vitamin D is for a lot of people these days. Low Vitamin D can cause additional pain and it can also affect other illnesses as well.

That's all.

Enjoy your 1st day of 2014. I hope to.

Good morning everyone. It is a frigid start to the new year here, -15 at rising, -8 now at 9am. We have not had this kind of cold since 1996. I am greatful it does not happen often. It is supposed to hang out for the foreseeable future.

I hope it is a good start to the new year for you all. I plan to just stay warm today and not go out unless absolutely needed. I need to pick up a book I started months ago and finish it. I think it is the perfect day for that. I may also find space to bring my good bicycle up from the basement. I have a training stand to set it up un making it a stationary bike. I need to move in a low impact way. It is just too cold to walk for a while.

I received a letter from my RH summarizing my back x-ray. In 04 I had an x-ray from an ER visit for severe back pain. Then I had shown degeneration in L3-L4 and L4-L5. Now it is showing up in my entire lumbar, 1-5. Because it has hurt every day for so long she may send me to a back care specialist. Has anyone here ever seen one? I am wondering what to expect of this.

My soft tissue pain is down some. Upping my Gabapentin seems to help. It is hard to judge as the cold and weather changes make it worse. For me it changes so much seasonally. Time will tell, I will keep writing in my journal. It has been a good tracking tool for me. Learning to dance.

I hope you all have a wonderful day. Take care everyone.

Happy New Year Fmily. Starting my New Year still sick, I went to the MD yesterday when this evolved into a conjunctivitis and my left eye was stuck shut and swollen. Amazing what can happen to a body.

I have been fighting this since just before Christmas and have been in the recliner since Dec 26th. I think I hit bottom yesterday. Now trying to use positive thinking and all the meds to help push me up over the rim of this hole!

We really do take longer to beat things with this problem age. I will work hard to be in a postive place moving forward.
PLUS staying away from the Grandchildren when they are sick!! They share so well.

OK, enough for the day. Happy New Year to all of you. I am hopeful for this to be a BIG year for us in science and we will get some answers.

Take care, Nancy B

Happy New Year!

Hope that the colds get better, the eye stays open, the back specialist can help, and that we all have one of the best years yet.

On a bright note, I think our heat is fixed. The guys bled the system, replaced the circulator and the aquastat, checked out any pipes that might have decided to freeze, and have our house almost at 70. You never know how much you have to be thankful for until it ISN'T working right. My hands are espeicially giving thanks. Since we are expecting blizzard conditions tomorrow, the timing is great.

Sometimes we forget just how much we owe to others. Whether it is your mate, your family, your friends, or even an especially kind doctor, try to tell those that make your life a better place how much their efforts mean to you. It is so easy to forget to say these words. And they mean so much to others.

So, again, it is a happy New Year here in W. NY. Hope yours is even better!

Cory/mnjeepguy, An Orthopedic Spine Specialist is who you want to see for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. Also suggest an MRI. An Orthopedic Spine Specialist or Neurosurgeion Spine Specialist are the only Dr's that can read MRI reports and imaging correctly.

Hope this helps.
mnjeepguy replied to darlyn05's response:
That does help. I have had problems for 20 years and daily pain for almost half of that. I wanted an MRI to be proactive but the regular Dr. will only order it if there is a dramatic change, (I asked him on the 23rd). I know it's not in great shape so I want to know the state and a course of action to prevent a dramatic change. They can't seem to wrap their head around that one. I like my RH and will see what she says when she gets back to me. Thanks!
