Morning FMily....MiMi in NC...It is a cool day again....nice kind of weather. I think we are due to get some rain later on this week. DH was selected for jury duty today. A lot going on here and he was not a happy camper that his number was pulled. We had to go over and do some more on our deck project. The railings are about done. Had a bad board so we have to go and get another one today. Once this is done then the pickets and a swing door will be needed. Thank goodness it will be done then. Lots of pickets though to put up.

School will soon be over for the year. Our GC are excited about summer break. Lots to do this summer. But I am sure they will be bored before school starts again. (I remember these days when I loved to be out but then it was nice to go back)

Welcome to the new members who have recently joined our support group. Lots of new people are seeking to find things which might help them cope better. I do hope they can find something that will indeed make a difference for them.

It is sad that there are so many people who are facing the wrath of the dragon these days. I continue to wonder what piece of this puzzle has been missed. I have to continue to hope that soon the medical researchers will find something that will help us all.

For those of you who have just joined I hope you will speak to your doctor about getting your Vitamin D level checked....which is important to a lot of people these days. Low Vitamin D can cause some of us to have additional pain and it can also affect other illnesses as well. This requires a simple blood test BUT you must ASK the doctor to run it....it is not included in the normal blood work that the doctors do.

Learning also how to pace, pace and pace even more is important for all of us FMers. This is not an easy issue to tackle either. You must figure out how much you can do BEFORE you have crossed the line.

Learn all you can about FM. It does get easier as time passes and you learn more about how to deal with this illness. Things do improve. Continue to try different *tools* that others have found that has made a difference for them. You should also note though that since we are all different....what works for one may or may not work for you. Only you will know when you have found the *right combination of tools* which has helped you. Yes....it normally takes a combination that will make a difference. There are no quick fixes or magic pills which works for everyone.

Drinking plenty of water is also important for me. Getting enough sleep is also important as well. This is sometimes a BIG problem for a lot of us...but again so very important as well. Lack of sleep can indeed increase my pain level.

Don't know how or where to start? Keeping a daily journal might make a big difference. Notating your activities, what you eat and drink and your pain level with each. This might allow you to soon find some sort of *pattern* which will tell you something about what you should change.

FM is with us for the long haul. It will get better but it does take time and effort to do this....which is not easy for a lot of us. Hang in here and try different things. Had a bad day? Remember that this too will pass.

Try to get some sunshine which is a way to increase our Vitamin D level. Soaking up the warm sunshine rays does make the body feel better.

Have a great day.

Good afternoon Mimi and all who follow. It rained a lot last night but I slept through it. I took a relaxer to try and loosen for work today. I can't take them there, it's too dangerous. I went in pretty sore but mobile this morning. By 11am I had to say uncle. It got worse and was very uncomfortable trying to walk around the mill. Once home I nested in the recliner after trying to stretch, and took another relaxer. I stayed there and napped for a bit but after rising it is still the same. I walk tilted to one side. I went to the clinic and no Dr's were available, mine not until Thursday, the worst day for my schedule.

I also highly recommend keeping a journal. It's great for tracking things. I looked I mine last night to see when my wrist trouble started. It has been bad lately. It was last March. I have not had it go back to normal yet so I will talk to the Dr. about options, possibly a cortisone shot. I am sure it is just more of my wear and tear arthritis and won't be going anywhere.

Pace is the most important thing we can do to reduce pain. Like Mimi stated, knowing when to quit before we cross the line. It is far easier said than done, but we have to try.

I hope you all have a wonderful evening. Take care.

Cory--hi-- just read what you said. I was walking that way too and using a cane finally before my last PT. I found out I had a dysfunctional SI joint--now I have no idea if that's what your prob. is--but you might try lying on your back and lifting your knees one at a time a few times--then both-- hold them up to chest as far as you can--- for about 5 sec. each rep. just see if it helps--you may have some muscles in legs/butt/low back that need some stretching. Gentle of course.

can't hurt I guess.

I have been doing lots of stretches but not one leg at a time. I will do that, thanks. I saw a back care specialist 5 months ago who was supposed to set up PT for me and said they would call me. No call and not much help.

Cory--this was one of the rare times that PT actually did help me--in just a few sessions I got my walk back. I was needing a cane to get out of bed, fell while shopping and really had a hard time. Just a few simple exercises and I no longer need a cane ever and can walk fine. I keep doing them but just a few reps as when I was in PT the gal said 30 reps and I was in super pain from that-- also was icing lower back 20 min. ( no longer or it gets worse).

I hope it helps--- and if not check with dr of course.
