    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

It depends on the person. I do every 6 months when my weight allows me. (under weight).

I don't think (COULD BE WRONG), FMS or CFS is passed through blood.

I don't see an issue with it.

I don't, mainly because I'm on so many different meds and I worry about them not being filtered out completely. That, and I usually feel to crummy to go do it.

Same here about the drugs. I wouldn't want to jeopardize an ill person's recovery with drug contamination. I also had a bad experience when I did give blood. It took me weeks to overcome the weakness.
I've always wondered if my fibro contributed to my difficulties with pregnancy. It was almost like my body was allergic without the complications of incompatible rH factors. Maybe it's in the blood. (dramatic music here, lol) didn't mean to sound so dramatic.
Smile you're never alone, and laughter is the best medicine. As Bobby McFerrin said Don't worry, be anthem for me...remember stress makes it worse ;)

My DIL had 2 units of blood over the weekend as she had emergency surgery--- I have always been hesitant about donating--and now that I feel it more personally with her being so low on blood that it will now take her nearly 3 mos to build it all back up--

My feeling is more strongly than ever that I should not do it.

Nobody knows at all what causes this or by what mechanism it has become so widespread. I just don't feel right about it. I also have a ton of drugs and a cluster of other chronic illnesses.

I would be uncomfortable thinking my dear DIL was trying to build healthy blood starting with a base that included mine.

So I agree with Rowan. I may be paranoid? I don't know--but it creeped me out seriously thinking of poor N. with all her challenges now--and my 'unknown' issues blood.
