    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

Keep an eye here and on your email inbox, we'll be back in touch soon to give you all the information you need!

How do you hold your arms while you're walking? I know if I let my arms just hang, I'll get that numb, tingly feeling in my hands. But, if I keep my arms bent at the elbow to 90 degrees and keep them moving, I don't. Worth a try.

I have them hanging, I will try walking with my elbow bent, thanks for the suggestion.

This is very common during exercise, particularly during walking, and especially so when it gets hot and humid. Fluid tends to accumulate in the extremities as the result of the arm swing and holding arms straight. It can be bad enough that people need to remove their rings before exercising. One solution is that every few minutes raise your hands over your head and clench and relax your hands. Some people will carry a squeeze ball which keeps the blood and other fluids flowing in and out of the hands. You can also hold your arms at 90 degrees and use a race-walk style arm swing.
