Hopefully someone can advise me on this. I have a 2 month old granddaughter and her mother gives her Pedialyte daily. Are there any risks involved in this?

This is something that should be asked on our Baby's First Year community where our pediatric experts can address it.

It is my non-professional gut feeling that no, it isn't a good idea daily unless the child has a medical condition that indicates that she needs hydration.

Thye manufacturer has a web site http://pedialyte.com/faq.aspx which indicates that the product is "specifically designed to replace fluids and minerals (electrolytes) that are lost when a child has diarrhea with or without vomiting" No indication that it is good idea to give this supplement on a routine daily basis to an otherwise healthy infant.
