Eat/Workout/Sleep

I recently started crossfit and I workout between 7:00-8:00 at night. So I am not eating late, I eat dinner before I go between 5:30-6:00 and do not eat anything after working out since I am hoping to shed a couple of pounds. I have also heard that the best time to eat is after a workout to help replenish the body so the muscles can repair. I am feeding my body properly during the day basing my diet off of Paleo recipes. So far I have not had any problems sleeping working out later and I normally go to bed between 9:30-10:30. Since I do not have any problems with this routine, should I stick with it to lose weight? Or is the best thing to do is eat after a workout regardless of how late it is?

If you do not feel very hungry before bed, and if you are able to sleep well with your current routine, then it probably works for you.

Still, you could experiment and instead of eating a meal afterwards, maybe just eat a snack - something like yogurt/fruit or a protein shake. You could eat a smaller dinner before exercise in that case.

It's not going to matter too much for wt loss which order you do things. To lose weight you must consume fewer calories than you burn no matter when you eat, what you eat, how much you exercise, or the order of things. The bottom line is to consume few calories than you burn. If the order that you do things now works for you then continue. As for replenishing the body, yes, consuming carbs and protein within 30 minutes of the completion of your workout has been shown to improve recovery and protein synthesis. But studies show that so does eating within 30 minutes before you exercise. Like I said, if your current regimen works for you then there's no reason to change it. If you're curious you could experiment with different orders, but I don't think you'll notice much difference, if any. If you want to experiment, go ahead, otherwise what you're doing is fine.
