What do you do for a person who while running has a spasm of the diaphram? This only happens with hard exercise and actually makes her cyanotic.

Rich Weil, MEd, CDE responded:
If it truly is a diaphragmatic spasm, one of the things to look at is reflux, which can act up as a result of acid secretion and muscle contraction during intense exercise. He should have this evaluated by a physician, perhaps a gastroenterologist or cardiologist. His primary care doctor will be able to decide. This should be evaluated before he does more exercise at this intensity.
