Upper stomach muscles

Friday I started working out with a trainer. I was kinda sore Friday, but today the muscles in the upper part of my stomach feels like I got hit by a car. Have any suggestions? Thanks..

It's normal to feel soreness two days after the workout more than the soreness one day afterward. It happens as the swelling increases, which means the muscles are healing. You can do some cardio and then gentle stretching. Stretch your abs by raising your arms overhead while standing and sitting (so your back arches a little). That may or may not help. Massage will help. Try that after a warm shower when the muscles are warm and loose, and then put ice on if they are still sore (a frozen bag of peas or corn work nicely). Anti-inflammatories can help for people who can tolerate them, but speak with your doctor if you're not sure it's safe for you to take them.

It can take up to 5 days for very sore muscles to feel better. Of course, mention it to your trainer so he or she knows how to train you next time.
