Hi Everyone,

The weather may be getting colder where you live. Are you prepared? Will the cold weather stop you or force you to cut back on your workouts? Will you work out outside no matter what the weather? I like layers, polypropylene, neck gaiters, Gore-tex shells, mittens, fleece, ski/running mask, thermax hat, sock liners, wool/poly socks, Yaktrax for gripping the ice when I run. I avoid cotton anything; cotton gets wet and stays wet, and it sucks the heat right out of your body when your outdoors.

How about you? What are your winter workout plans? Don't let winter defeat you! (:->) Rich

Thankfully i live in the desert I used to live in the cold and snowy parts of the country. And the winter time always seemed to put a damper on my work outs, when i was working out.

Im just glad its finally cooling off outside so i can take advantage and workout outside doing sprints, jogging etc. I have been working out 4 days a week for a little over a year and I have no plan of stopping. I feel bad when I miss a day, its my "me" time when i go to the gym a great way to destress and just let my mind relax. I will take a week off every 5 or 6 weeks, just to let my body recover and those weeks just feel weird to me but since it is cooling off i will most likely run 3 or 4 days on those weeks.

Hi Rich! I need to see a photo of you in your layers! I'm picturing you in that great scene in "A Christmas Story" when the little brother Randy is bundled up "like a tick ready to pop" - hahaha!

Thankfully, I live in "desert-y" weather like IC. I can walk outside almost every day of the year unless it's raining (that's where I draw the line). My daughter swims in an indoor Park & Rec pool. I plan on doing some lap swims there after I find out what is wrong with my shoulder and hopefully get pain free range of motion back.

Judy - love your strategy for getting exercise while watching football! That is fabulous! No nachos and being horizontal on the couch for you - huh?

I was camping out in the desert in Southern Utah a few years ago in June and I remember how cold the sand would get at night. It was hot during the day, and then as soon as the sun went down it got cold. I was impressed with how quickly the temperature changed.

Can't wait!

My 7 year old had a swim tournament this weekend. It rained lightly (the only kind of SoCal rain) for a few hours. You know what? I didn't melt! I'll give exercise in the rain a shot next time I get a chance.
