    don't know what to do

Well i guess i should start with my stats. I'm a four foot nine, female with about 5-15 lb to lose and toning. I'm ex military so i appreciate a hard work out with high intensity. I tried doing Zumba with my sister and found it left me bored and disinterested and class time hours were hard for me to meet due to my work hours being atipical. I have an old friend who said i should try Insanity as it would give me that high intensity workout I'm looking for and i could do it from home with no equipment needed so here is my question. I have looked at all the reviews and while i am seriously tempted i'm wondering if I am going about it all wrong? And if i need to get in the best shape of my life before starting? acording to some, no. But others make it sound like it will be inpossible if i am not, but they preach a diffrent product and i feel like im talking to a used car salesman. I am not in the best shape do to slacking off after i left the military so what would you suggest?

Insanity will be too much to start. It's way too intense. P-90X and Power 90 are better alternatives. They are both hard, but not like Insanity. You'll need some equipment, like dumbbells (you may need a chin-up bar), but you can get by with soemthing like Jungle Gym for the bar (a less expensive version of TRX). Here's what I suggest you do. Start with jogging and get a Jungle Gym, or TRX if you want to spend more money, and do that (including stretching and ab work) for 6-8 weeks to get into at least pretty good shape, then start P-90X. Since you're ex-military you had to be in shape at some point, so you have muscle memory for fitness and in 4-6 months of working out you should be good to go.

Here's a link You can see Jungle Gym and a link for TRX at the top.

Funny you should ask. I do BOTH. I do Zumba 3 days a week and Insanity 3 days a week. I LOVE Zumba. The thing with Zumba, it's ALL ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR!!!!!! I went to 4 different instructors before I "fell in love". It makes a world of difference. It is the best workout i have ever done!! There are times when she has a sub and the workout just isn't the same. I know that doesn't help you, but if you can keep searching for "the one", you will not be disappointed. Go on the Zumba website and look for instructors in your area. As for times coinciding with your job, you'll just have to check that out.
Now for Insanity. All i have to say is that is is INSANE!!!! There is nothing like it out there. It is VERY challenging. If you are at all a quitter, or wimpy, or not self-motivated, you will NOT last this workout. I can't tell you how many times I have wanted to give up on it. But I made a promise to myself and I'm sticking to it. The athletes in the DVD are VERY in shape. Cut abs, no fat, etc. And NOT ONE of them can make it through the entire 40 minutes. Not even Sean, the main guy. It is truly difficult. so with that being said, it is hard not to give up. The first two weeks were excruciating. It is so intense. Many people told me I should have done P-90X to start, but I didnt' listen. I can't say if I would like it better or not. However, I have been doing Insanity since January, and there are still moves I can NOT perform. That is how hard it is!!!!

I hope this helps you out. If you do decide to purchase Insanity, get it on eBay. You will save at least $30-$40. But you MUST BE SELF-MOTIVATED!!!!!!

    Best of luck to you!!!

I love love love Insanity?. I have severe asthma. I have been a Billy Blanks follower since Tae Bo was on VCR tapes! Insanity is INSANE, but I love it! You dont need to be in the best shape to start! P90x you need to purchase weights and other equipment. With Insanity its your own body weight that you are using. Just do it as hard as you can. It is not for everyone though! I attempted the Insanity program THREE times before I stuck with it. People do Insanity/P90x hybrid workouts...also Brazil Butt Lift can be tossed in there. I would check out the site and see what you think. I mentioned took me 3 attempts before sticking with it. I started jogging to build up my lung strength, and that has helped a LOT!!!! I saw results in three days. Best of luck to you!
