See if this cookbook would interest you. There are plenty of delicious recipes in it and I believe that if you eat less sodium in your diet that your weight will begin to drop dramatically. But just know that exercise no matter how minimal is necessary. And there are so many ways to add a little "boost" to your exercise that isn't even exercise really. You can park farther away from the store, take the stairs instead of the elevator, eat somewhere farther from the kitchen that way you would have to walk all the way back into the kitchen if you wanted more which makes it less appealing to have to go get more food if you have to walk there, turn the tv off and listen to upbeat music which makes you less likely to want to eat more likely to get up and do something, and just go outside because the sunshine will soak into your skin and make you feel good, and you will be less likely to want to go back to the fridge. I know it will be a long hard journey but I believe that you can do this. Just posting this on here lets everyone know that you are strong enough to want to make a change, and the boost of confidence that everyone on here will give you will also allow you become more motivated to do something. So, congratulations and making the first step!!!!!!!

My favorite cookbook is World of the East Vegetarian Cooking. Recipes vary from simple to complex, but every one I have tried is delicious. Fresh vegetables, tasty flavorings and whole grains like rice, whole wheat and beans are the basis of the meals.

If you are comfortable in the kitchen and enjoy preparing food, this book will be a joy to use. Some of the recipes use a lot of oil, but I often cut down on the amount suggested without any difficulty in the result.

You might also ask staff at Barnes & Noble what they recommend. Someone knowledgeable in the area of cookbooks may have had customer response about ease of preparation and how dishes taste.

My recommendation is to keep food preparation simple. Try easy, healthy dishes first. I always prepare a large salad that I eat first with a teaspoon of olive oil, salt and pepper and lime juice. This is filling, and makes reducing portion sizes in higher-calorie items much easier.

Good luck!

Hi Brett -- You're in the right place! You don't even need to spend your hard-earned money on a cookbook! Just sign up within this WebMD Community and get daily recipes. The recipes are always healthy and low fat and sodium conscious. AND--they taste good. You can find great recipe make-overs for things you may already like -- one of my favorites is the "No bake Mac 'n Cheese" -- who doesn't like mac 'n cheese! And it's easy. Also--via WebMD--you can log in your daily food intake. It has been proven that people who keep a food log do the best at losing weight. Try your best to get even 10 minutes a day of exercise via a quick morning walk around the block. You'll soon see and feel a difference. Good luck!
