I wouldn't call it a health food, as it is still processed and contains added sugars, corn syrup and salt.

However, you can make it a healthier choice by choosing the low sugar/low salt variety. And if you eat it in moderation, that tablespoonful won't contribute all that much salt and sugar.

Processed tomatoes are also rich in lycopene, and other antioxidants.

Tomato salsa, or chopped fresh tomato (lightly fried in a small amount of olive oil) mixed with herbs would be a better choice though.
