Maybe you can shed light on this, since I can't get any answers over on the Digestive Community. Simply, when I drink hot tea I get gassy and bloated. What in tea could produce those reactions, the acid??

Thanx.

Hi sherm, have you tried differnt types of teas? Is your tea herbal or white, or regular black tea?
It could be that you have irratable bowel sydrome that is affected by the tea you are drinking. The big thing is to make sure its the TEA that's causing the problem.
Just eliminate it from your daily diet for a couple of weeks, but stay with all the other stuff you normally eat/drink. If you still get gassy, then eliminate something else.
One item at a time till you figure out what that trigger is, then begin putting the stuff back into your diet , starting with the tea and going back up the list, waiting at least a week inbetween items.
If you still want tea, switch to either a peppermint or spearmint flavored herbal tea. Both of those herbs help to calm an upset tummy and may help with our bloating and gas.

Also, are you putting sugar in it, real or fake, or having anything with the tea? If caffeinated, do you have the same problem with coffee?
