Lighten Up That Recipe
Chris_WebMD_Staff posted:
Have you had a recipe that you have made lighter in calorie or fat content?

Whether it be substituting an ingredient or finding a lighter version of the same ingredient, have you succeeded in lightening up a recipe favorite?
Please share.

Replacing part of the oil with apple sauce in cakes is a good way to lighten up the recipe. Replacing part of the sugar with stevia can help too. If you eat grain, replacing half of white flower in a recipe with whole wheat is good, as long as you aren't baking something that needs a really fine texture. There's always the lighter versions of foods too, such as sour cream, eggs, etc, but I don't like those because of the additives.
