I had a cyst drained from my foot about two weeks ago. My doctor said that he was going to inject the cyst with cortisone to try to prevent it from coming back. For some reason he changed his mind. He told me there was a 50-75% chance that it would come back. If it did the best way to remove it would be through surgery. Well, less than two weeks later and it's back.
Is it worth trying to get the cortisone injection before surgery? Are the chances of it returning the same with the cortisone injection?
One more question, why would he suggest an orthopedist and not a podiatrist?
