What is It? - Severe Abdominal Pain

goldtop56 posted:
I get severe abdominal pain about four to eight times a year for past ten years or so. I have had ultrasound (negative) and scope for reflux symptoms (negative). Would seem like severe heartburn but does not seem to respond to antacids or acid blockers. I have greatly changed my diet (half cup of coffee, no alchohol, etc) with little affect. My doctor thinks that from here it's probably best to treat the pain when it comes and not go crazy trying to figure out what it is or how to treat root cause. For this approach I take Oxycodone and Valium, which does the trick most of the time. But about once a year the pain just accelerates even after oxycodone, and I wind up in the emergency room with pain on 10 out of 10 and vomitting - which really is awful, especially if the emergency room is backed up. Eventually I get an IV of morphine which knocks me out and I wake up an hour later just fine. Curious if anyone has any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.
