heartburn ???
An_254971 posted:
hi, I just got this strange burning sensation in the middle of my chest followed by a gagging nasty sensation in my throat... is it heartburn ?

Hi An_254971,

Are you a heavy coffee or tea drinker? Or do you consume a lot of carbonated beverages everyday?

A burning sensation in the chest area is a characteristic of heartburn or the tel-tell sign you are experiencing one. This gagging sensation you are saying is this accompanied by a sour taste? That is probably acid reflux, what would usually cause heartburn.

If this persists, you need to get a doctor's professional opinion on it, because it may be symptomatic to something else. But, if it happens only once in a while and far between, just rethink on the food you had consumed in the past hours - there are certain food stuffs that cause this sensation; mainly carbonated drinks, spicy foods, and starch-based foods.
