    Jaw Pain After Endoscopy

I have had GERD for a number of years and have had quite a few endoscopies. I had an endoscopy yesterday morning, with no problem. Yesterday afternoon, my jaw (from the bottom of my ear to where my jaw meets my neck) has been very sore to the touch. It feels something like a bad bruise, although I do not see any bruising in the area. I have never experienced this after an endoscopy. Have any of you ever experienced this type of pain?

This is years after your post but yours came up when I was searching for "jaw pain after endoscopy." I had an upper GI endoscopy yesterday, and like you, no problem for about 4 hours (of course felt fine when the nurse called to check on me). Then both sides of my jaw under my ears became extremely painful. I don't see any bruising, but there is some swelling, so I'm trying cold compresses. Acetaminophen, ibuprofen -- neither are touching the pain.

I'm also experiencing lower back pain that I didn't have prior to the endoscopy, and some exacerbated joint pain. I'm wondering if the sedation drug could be muscle pain surrounding these joints?
