Pain Between Soulder Blades & middle of Chest

I have not been diagnosed with GERD but have experienced a lot of acid reflux issues. I just had an episode a few week back where I raced home from work, scarfed down some spaghetti and salad and then went out and did some quick yard work. I ended up getting severe back pain and pain the center of my chest and since then have had acid reflux which can be flare up for no reason.

My question is has anyone had any chiropractic manipulations. I see a chiropractor and I always feel like the pain starts in my back first and then moves to my chest. It always seems like it is in the area of T3-T4 which affects the digestive system, heart and lungs. I may be crazy but when my back feels good, I have no issues with my digestive system. I don't need any medication at all and seem to be able to eat what I want.

I too have the pain that wraps around under my left arm and also into the center of my chest. I wonder how much of the chest pain we are experiencing is more muscle skeletal due to the tightening associated with the symptoms.

Has anyone experienced this?

I actually have the exact same symptom of pain in the back. It's nagging pain. Over the past couple of months on 3 occasions it has radiated to the fromt below the sternum. The back pain intensified first. When I go running my back actually feels better for a few hours.

This is a little late for your purposes but I want to say it for posterity. Pain that starts in your chest and runs down your left arm and shortmess of breath are the symptoms of a heart attack. Take care of that NOW. GERD won't matter if you're dead.

Yes. I experience that all the time. I also have back and neck problems. My chiro told me when I get that band around my chest it means a rib is out of alignment. You need to make sure this is what is wrong and not a possible heart attack. Better safe then sorry.

I was wondering if you found out what this is? I have the same issues. I get a pain in between the shoulder blades (right on the spine) and it radiates to the chest. I just had an upper gi done a few days ago. I have acid reflux and damage done (barrett's esp.) . I think the pains are from acid reflux but i am not sure. I also have a hernia which causes the acid reflux. I feel exactly like you explain it. Do you have an update?

Hey Peeps
for last few months I had the same symptoms I see here and on similar posts, chest pains that moved around also between shoulder blades, sternum pain especially after sleeping, acute heartburn.
I live in Africa and travel to rural countries regularly
I just found out that I had a serious intestinal parasite infection..some sort of worm. As soon as i got treated for that- all the symptoms went. They move from chest and lungs to stomach, causing all sorts of problems, inflammation, ulcers, infections and general discomfort as well as teh toxins they pump out. The real indicator to me was sensitivity of lower bowels near bladder on pressing.
Sure this isnt the case for many..but its something to check out.

I guess it can be Gerd or gastritis....I had pain in left upper quadrant for almost a year and extreme daily nausea after gallbladder surgery two years ago....after innumerable tests, they felt I had mild gastroparesis...however, I recovered by the grace og God, regained the 30 pounds I had lost and felt pretty good... Now for about a week, I have right sided upper abdominal pain and tightness in chest...they checked heart but it sounds like what you have

Like everyone else on this topic, I am currently experiencing GERD symptoms. It started about 2 weeks ago after eating cook out type food (i.e. hamburgers, hotdogs, baked beans) everyday for 5 days in a row. I know this was crazy, but it was actually for a function at my job. Anyway, since then I have been experiencing painful bouts with bloating, gas, and indigestion. What is really irritating now is that this thing has been waking me up at night. The pain starts in the middle of my chest and moves to the back. I can only get relief when my husband rubs my back to help the gas move. I am also burping a lot during the day. I have been taking GasX, but I think the anti-acid type meds are better. I just cannot stand the dull pain in my back that is constantly there these days.

By me losing 20 pounds has helped tremendously with my gerd. Walking a half hour every day should help and take at least 20 minutes to eat your meals. If you are on medication for your anxiety, my doctor suggests sitting in chair upright for twenty minutes after you take your anxiety meds before bed. Also try to drink 8 glasses of water a day and take care!d graduall increase your fiber intake, this should help tremendously. Good luck and take care!

My husband suffered with severe acid reflux for years. He was on Protonix and that helped but just like another member he saw huge improvements when started eating all the right things, exercising and drinking shakeology. He is still working at losing more weight and I am happy to say he is completely off the meds now. I can't speak for all situations just ours but its working and he is much happier now that he is vomiting after he eats anymore.
