    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Step Mother With Cancer

Hello everyone, I am new to this community and I am so glad that I found it. My step mother who is about 67 yrs old, was diag. with cancer about 18 months ago. We all had hope that chemo was going to cure the cancer but it did not. She can not do any more chemo. Her last PET scan showed that her cancer has spread all over her body. She is weak, in pain, losing weight, etc. She is still at home but I fear that she will go down hill very fast. I hear stories that cancer patients can be fine one day and in the hospital the next. I'm trying to prepare myself. I don't know what to expect. What will life be like with out her? What will my father do? My father is the type of man who can not deal with this sort of thing. The thought of him being home alone, crying, breaks my heart. My most terrible fear is that he may take his own life. I have never had anyone close to me pass away. What should I expect? I'm so afraid of the unknown.
