Horrible Tingling Pulsing Sensation in Crotch

An_195080 posted:
I ride horses and sometimes when my crotch makes contact with the saddle it sends this absolutely horrendous tingling (tingling isn't quite the right word) sensation through the entire front of my crotch (from vagina and forward). It is so strong a feeling that I must immediately stand in my stirrups, halt my horse, and if no one is around, grab my crotch. It is such a terrible feeling that I almost can't make it the 5 seconds it takes for the feeling to subside. I can't obviously do anything about it at that time but I do honestly think that I can't take it, and I become incredibly panicked.
After it subsides if I try to ride again it's sensitivity is now heightened and the slightest brush will send it off again so usually that means I have to quit for the day. This really sucks when I am paying for a lesson or clinic and I also have to fake having a side cramp so people don't think I am coping out and just being too lazy to ride.
I also often have a bit of discharge on the days I get this. I don't know if it is caused by the discharge (I can sometimes feel it 'bubble' just before an episode, but not always) or if the discharge is cause by the terrible tingling type sensation.
After a bad episode my crotch will pulse, like you would feel near an injury as if the blood is rushing to it. I will also feel some downwards 'pressure.'
I can find a part down there that seems to be sensitive to the touch that may be causing the problem, but I am not 'knowledgeable' enough about the different parts down there to know what it is called.

I have talked to a few people (including a discussion board with other riders) and NO ONE seems to have ever felt this problem before.
I am a virgin and would rather not have to go to a doctor to have them grope around down there to fix this problem, but if I can't figure it out soon I will have to because I just can't take it anymore.

Has any one ever experienced this before? What was the problem? Could you fix it? How did you fix it?

What you're experiencing is clitoral stimulation. The "discharge" is an increase in vaginal secretions as a reaction towards stimulation and possibly a mini-orgasm. Its not a problem to fix, its completely normal. Whenever you decide to have sex, you'll feel this again and you'll know the sex is good.

So the sex is good if I feel such horrendous discomfort that I will never ever want to have sex again?

Dear Anon: I am not a horse woman but I have heard other women riders speak about getting clitoral stimulation while riding. Thus, your answer from Anon MIGHT correct.

The clitoris and genital area is innervated by the puedendal nerve. If there is compression on a body part served by the nerve one can have pain or even the sensation of the crotch "going to sleep" followed by unbearable tingling pain (like when you get up and your foot has fallen asleep).

Yet this pudendal nerve compression is not always followed by that sense of downward pressure you have described. By contrast, clitoral stimulation often is. Given that this is interfering with your training/lessons you should probably see a GYN for a more "for sure" answer. I would urge you to speak with your mom or some trusted older female for their feedback. They can also accompany you to a GYN as your support person.

If you cannot trust your feelings with a friend or family you can still ask to see a GYN because of a pain hurting you when riding and leave it at that. Hope this can get fixed simply by some padding in your crotch like women bike riders or cycle spin teachers at the gym use---but you need to get a "for sure" diagnosis first.

Yours,
Jane

I am also having a similar problem...
This started about a week ago which sent me to the gyn. told them I thought I may have a uti, which was checked out... nothing. Then a yeast inf.. test was done, nothing. Still in great discomfort, can't find relief. Took ibuprofen still waiting. Why is this happening? I don't ride horses, but I do have fibromyalgia.

I have to tell you I experience this too and have never spoken to anyone about it. Partly because i don't know how to explain the feeling. What you say sounds pretty much the same. The thing is though for me I don't ride horses (did when I was younger). It happens usually when I am stirring something really fast. I end up clenching my coochy muscles and need to grab myself also. It drives me crazy. I know it doesn't seem to make sense that stirring would have anything to do with my privates, but somehow the muscles I'm using affects me down there. I wish there was an answer or someone knew what this was. I have never brought it up to my gyn because I couldn't explain and I've always felt like it was just something weird that was just specific to me.

You might be more at ease with a female GYN.
