    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

When should I become worried about my preteen (11 yrs old that began menstruating about a year ago) having a very irregular menstral cycle? She has her period at least twice a month and they can last for over 1 1/2 weeks. Should this be brought to her doctor's attention?

My daughter is having the same issues at 11 years of age..I think it's normal to have erratic periods during the first year, but I too would be interested in Jane's response..I plan on asking my gyn at my next appt if this is indeed normal..it's bad enough they have their periods at such an early age, but too have it twice in one month? ugh..

Yes, I agree with having erratic periods during the first year or two...starting late or even missing a month. I did not ever have 2 in one month which lasts 11 days. I'm beginning to think the younger generation does not have the same nutritional guides as we did. I too am wondering what Jane's comments will be on this.
