Transvaginal Ultrasound

vicygirl posted:
I finally got up the nerve to make an
appointment for the transvaginal
ultrasound. But when I called, they
said the procedure would last 30
minutes! I freaked out & cancelled.
Why does it take 30 minutes to find out
if I have Endometriosis? My friend who's
p.g. had a abdominal ultrasound during
30 minutes that measured all the organs
of her baby. How far in do they need to
go?

Sometimes you will be asked to wait and have the images checked by the radiologist, or obstetrician sonologist (specialist doctors). The sonographer may ask the doctor to come into the room and check what has been seen. Usually the doctor will let you know what they have seen and if there are any concerns.
In some clinics the doctor or specialist will perform the examination and will usually inform you of the findings.

If you do not wish to have a vaginal ultrasound you can request a trans-abdominal ultrasound be performed instead.Maybe the doctor would okay this.
