I turned 60 Dec. 24, 2011 and I'm still having periods. Enough is enough! Any suggestions? I'm only taking Provera 10 days each month.

I am 53 and still no signs of the 'M' Cycle. Everyone I know has been there and done that years ago. Some days I feel lucky and hope this means that the cycle will be kind to me and other days I feel a bit forgotten~ I am very active and athletic, which is the excuse I use for the time my cycles seem to work~

Same scenario here-------53 ----regular periods and zero sign of any menopausal symptoms lurking. I'm active, athletic, all my friends have also been there done that. I just have to think the longer I go the healthier I'll be in the long run or at least there better be a "reward" for going the distance!!!

I'm 59 and still having fairly regular cycles. Interestingly I too exercise vigorously on a daily basis (and have been for 30 years). I've been feeling like a freak of nature. Maybe our fitness is a factor here??? I don't think the medical professions knows the answer to this.

Sometimes I think it's a sad club to be in - I'm 54. Also get lots of exercise (rethinking that whole couch potato thing!) My problem, especially as recent blood tests had my doc tell me I'mm "in it for the long haul", is that these things are only 17 days apart on average. I can deal with one each month, but two is getting on my nerves twice as fast! I doubt anyone can help us, and hope that we are indeed going to win out in the end. It's nice to have a place to just vent - thanks for listening! (reading?!)

im pretty sure your time is coming soon. but i will say it isnt easy to go through. with me yes im only 28 but i go through being cold and covered up to red hot needing no clothes to cool off. its no fun but no cycles is a blessing. i really hope you girls go through it smoothly unlike myself.

Funny enough my sister and I were having this same conversation last night. I'm 51 and i have four sisters ranging in ages 46 to 49 and we all still have our cycles. We have no idea when women in our family naturally go through the big M since all the older women in our family have all ended up having to have hesterctomies and never went through M naturally. Unlike you ladies, I am do a strenous exerciser. I walk everday and do a low impact aroebic class twice a week but, thats pretty much it. My sister say I should count my blessings that I still have my cycle and not experiencing all the hormonal nightmares we hear about but, Lord Almighty, I sure hope I'm not in my 60's with my cycle!!!

the change is a nightmare, my poor hubby. i had to have a hysterectomy as well it was a blessing but the change not so much. good luck to you. i hope you go naturally.

I'm 55, and my periods have slowed down to maybe 1 period last September, then I've 2 periods of just spotting, occassional hot flash, but I still go thru chills! I'll be glad when it's over:)

debcrary replied to Tinkky56's response:
i'm glad i'm not alone.. i'll be 56 in a couple of weeks and my periods are as regular as they always have been. i did miss a couple of months this winter and thought that was it.. but now i'm back on schedule. i don't have a regular exercise routine, but i do stay physically active every day.

I am now very sad . I am 46 getting 2 periods a month and I had hope this would be over soon. After reading all the post here I am not happy

Hey An,

I just turned 50 this month, and I am still having periods too. One thing I wonder about is suddenly finding yourself, expecting and over 40. I had a niece that got pregnant at 40. Since my Mom had a hysterectomy back in the 60's after she had me and my brother I wonder how long I will go with the periods?

I am 45 and this month I spotted for 6 days and been having a heavy period for 10 days and now I am on my 4th light day and I see no sign of stopping my period I don't know what to do.

Keep persevering ladies; it will end eventually. I'd give anything to have periods. I had an unwarranted hysterectomy with ovary removal for an ovarian cyst. I think I miss my uterus more than my ovaries although surgical menopause is no "walk in the park."
