Bloating after hysterectomy

momcubed posted:
Hello. I had a hysterectomy on Aug 7th(still have my ovaries). I'm recovering well, but have noticed bloating the last few days which I thought would end after a hysterectomy. Am I wrong? Also, I have severe back pain that my doctor said was not related to my hysterectomy. Is this common or do I need to go back to the doctor for something else now? Thanks!!

Since you still retain your ovaries, you will likely notice some of the same side effects of "PMS" that you had before your hysterectomy. This can include breast tenderness, bloating, mood swings, changes in bowel habits, etc.. These symptoms are affected by the hormones your ovaries continue to produce whether you have a uterus or not. Gail
