Post Partial Hysterectomy and Bladder Lift

Ettawalden posted:
I am a 45 yr. old woman and I had a bladder lift plus a partial hysterectomy done 6 weeks ago. I had my uterus removed, but left my overies in tact. OB/GYN said they were healthy. I feel okay except I have tenges of pain every now and then in my pelvic area and my bowels don't seem to be the same. When I eat a meal, I feel like I have to have a bowel movement almost right afterwards. My OB/GYN told me I would have a pink discharge about 2 weeks after my surgery and that has happened. I had my 6 week check up last week, had a pelvic exam and it hurt some, but not unbarable. She said I had healed well and let me go back to work with no restrictions. This morning when I woke up and went to the bathroom, I noticed a brownish discharge on the toilet paper with little chunks on the paper. With my ovaries still in tact, I have had sensations of cramping like I'm about to start my period. Am I having a slight discharge from my ovaries, or the effects of my pelvic exam where dead tissue is still discharging? I understand that I am still healing after 6 weeks and will probably keeping healing for a year or more. Please clarify this and give me some insight to my condition. Thank you.

I also had a partial hysterectomy at 35, with ovaries and cervix left in tact. My gyn explained that your body still goes through the process of a period because some parts are still there. I continued to have little mini periods (mild cramping, lower back pain, light discharge) like you mentioned because of my cervix. They continued for about 5 years after my hysterectomy. Now that I'm approaching 41, they have stopped. My gyn also explained that a lot of my pelvic discomfort even now stems from the scar tissues of my 3 c-sections and hysterectomy.
