Long period

I've been having irregular periods since I was 14 (15 yrs ago)...I never know when they will happen and for how long. My period has been going heavy for 6 weeks this go round and I'm not sure of what to do. I don't have insurance so a doctor appt is not affordable at the moment. Also, I'm not sexually active, but have changed my diet drastically at the beginning of this year. I gave up all meats except fish and gave up sodas entirely. Could this have something to do with it? Any ideas?

Insurance or not, you need to get this checked out medically. This is not a menstrual period; this is abnormal vaginal bleeding that has been going on for six weeks and is not improving.

Eventually you will become so anemic you'll end up in the ER.
And while it is possible that the reason for this bleeding may be dtermined then, you may been too weak to undergo any surgerical intervention (if needed).

Your changes in diet have nothing to do with this.
