clotting during menstration

During my last few periods, I have had clotting for a day or two in the middle of my period. I am 43 years old and have never had any problems whatsoever with my cycle. I have no more pain or cramping than normal. I have three children and am not having any more. What could this mean?

Are you saying this is taking place during your actual menstrual period on in the middle of your cycle?

Passing what looks like clots during menstruation is not unusual. Remember than menstruation is not simply bleeding; it is the sloughing off of the uterine lining which is not needed that cycle since conception did not occur. These pieces of lining can look like blood clots.
