I have a bad vignal oder and discharge but it is not cottage cheese looking nor do i itch. I have been taking Lipozene to help me loose weight and i started taking that June 27th so im thinking that could be why i havnt started my period but the research ive done doesnt show anything about it cause menstral problems. Could someone help me figure out whats going on? I would go to the doctor but like i said, i have no insurance and no extra money with 2 kids to go to the doctor. Dear SuziQ: Thanks for waiting for a reply. Lipozone is primarily a high fiber supplement--so it is unlikely to be the cause of your current symptoms. Be aware that the manufacturer of this product had to pay a $ 15 million dollar assessed by the Federal Trade Commission for misleading advertising claims. For more about this product check this link:

In terms of the missed period you still need to rule out a pregnancy--even an inexpensive home test is better than no test. If the test is negative (which I would hope and expect) then the missed period is most likely due to a missed ovulation.

There can be MANY causes for not ovulating: thyroid problems, pituitary problems, ovarian cysts, physical stressors (eg sudden increases in exercise, crash dieting), emotional stressors (problems with kids, boyfriends/girlfriends, money worries), increased body weight, anorexia, rotating shifts at work, etc. Yet none of these would likely be the culprit for a bad smelling vaginal discharge.

There are two common vaginal infections which tend to produce foul smelling discharge: trichomoniasis ("trich") and bacterial vaginosis (BV). Trich is considered a sexually transmitted infection so if you are in a monogamous relationship, trich seems less likely. By contrast, BV can arise in anyone, even those not sexually active.

There are no good over the counter treatments for either of these vaginal infections. I would strongly urge you to contact your local county family planning clinic or even your local county STD clinic. They can do a quick check for vaginal infections and also a pregnancy test. Such clinics tend to be cheaper than a private GYN office.

If the discharge persists, or you have not had a flow for three months, you might want to save your money for a vaginal infection check rather than the Lipozone.

Jane
