i'm 19. i'm having like this menstrual cramp, it's a sharp pain around my vagina. i'm not due for my period yet though. i had a huge headache and threw up a couple days ago and i feel dizzy, and feeling like i'm going to throw up a lot but rarely do and i'm tired and gaining a couple pounds. also i keep having sharp pains on both ovaries but mostly my left. sometimes it takes a bit for me to get up in the morning. my period is normal. my mom thinks i'm pregnant. she's had her period for a couple months with all 3 of her pregnancies. the longest was 6th months with a normal period with one. she never knew she was pregnant. both tests from the doctor or store kept coming out negative like mine. i've had these symptoms before around November 2011. went to the doctor and they couldn't find anything at all. later i had a heavy period with this bloody pink thing. boyfriend told me he thinks it was a miscarraige. after that i was fine. this started happening again around end of may early June. what do you think it could? be i'm going to make an appointment soon to see what's going on.

Dear meghanmp: It can be very difficult to accurately diagnose a miscarriage unless there has been at least one positive pregnancy test. Given your mom's history your best bet is to see your GYN or clinic. They can do a blood pregnancy test which are accurate down to only 5 units of HCG pregnancy hormone (urine tests are 20-50 units).

The pain and fatigue/nausea could also be from an ovarian cyst, an infection inside the uterus, or even a bowel condition (eg diverticulitis). You need a focused abdominal/pelvic exam and possibly an ultrasound if the pain seems to be from the ovary.

Jane
