Jane I'm not sure if I told you but yesturday I went to see my GYN's ARNP and she did vaginal and yeast cultures and Urine cultures but they won't be back till monday. Anyways she said I was very swollen and had a strong odor. She is having me use the Mycolog ointment until she gets results anyways I was asked if I had sex and I said no because I was embarrased but should have because on wed. We tryed having sex he only could go about an inch it caused so much pain I screamed on top of that the condom was latex which I am allergic to and the condom broke so today I called back to the office to talk with my GYN's nurse about it she said I should have told the ARNP yesturday but that I need to get checked out for STD'S because he also tryed oral on me and we were rubbing on each other without the condom I am scared because he has had girlfriends before I didn't think to ask him I was so nervous and it was the worst experience ever I basically froze up and I think my skin got torn. Well so tuesday morning I go into see my GYN he wanted to see me right away plus he needs to help me with the sex pain oh I also had some mild bleeding afterwords my hymen was already broke from so many spec exams. I hurt so bad down there I just hope I can some day have good sex that feels good. Also I had discharge and was very red. Funny thing the ARNP also helps out in the ER on the weekends and I had to take my friend to the ER tonight and she was her ARNP it was weired I feel that I should have told her because I have seen her many times before this and she has seen everything so. I wish it was tuesday now.

Dear smjpain: I concur, I wish it was Tuesday for your sake. If that many vaginal cultures were done (including a culture for yeast) I would hope that it would let you know once and for all if all this redness and swelling is truly continuous yeast---or some other kind of inflammation.

Your risk for many of the sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) is small if he did not ejaculate, nor penetrate more than an inch. Unprotected genital rubbing can transmit both genital herpes, and perhaps the HPV virus that prefers external genital skin (subtype 6 & 11). Hopefully none of this will happen.

Given the generalized vulvar and vaginal pain it must have been extremely uncomfortable to attempt intercourse. If the lichen sclerosus is acting up it can make the skin around the vagina and anus thin, dry appearing, and friable (easier to tear).

When you write us all back with your culture results, please include an update on the possible breast infection, and incision problem.

Yours,
Jane

PS You did the right thing in not asking your ARNP questions while in the ER for your friend. That showed good boundaries.
