Hi Jane went to my GYN today first off he comes in and said are you okay I said no I'm not my vagina hurts very bad and then he said lets see what's going on he also said I hope you don't have an STD so first he got alot of cultures from the discharge told me the cultures that were taking on thursday were all negative. Then he had me tell him exactly what hapen when me and my boyfriend tryed having sex and he even used his hand to try to create the pain and I screamed in pain and thought I was going to die it hurts so bad down there I said I can't even masterbate myself, he told me we need to look into things further and said I could possibly have besides my lichens and vulvadynia and frequent yeast infections I might also have vaginisms so we talked a little more and he poked around a little more saw a little blood and a little tearing. I got dressed and we talked more he wants to see me on the 7th and to try having sex again but in two days but I need to attempt using my vaginal estragen Vagifem every day and to call if I can't get it. Also he wants my boyfriend to come with me to my apt.. So tonight he came over and we started messing around he was touching me down there it hurt so bad I had to tell him to stop so we just kissed and also at the GYN I started crying and he told me that he won't give up on me and that he is hear for me. Well anyways then I tryed putting in my estrogen and it poped right back out and now I am spotting so in the morning I will call him. Also it is burning alot when I pee I also told him about the pelvic pain and my Doctor/ pain specialist is also ordering an MRI of my back to see if I a have a buldging disc.

Dear smjpain: So the cultures were negative---that's good. I think your GYN might be right about the vaginismus. I also agree that a trial of the vaginal estrogen might be helpful. Try putting the Vagifem in with your own finger rather than the inserter. All it has to do is to be in contact with vaginal tissues so the hormone can be absorbed. It sounds like your GYN thinks that the pain and thin tissues might be a result of low estrogen.

If your pelvic pain is due to a back injury that would be important news. And good information about a change in approach to treating the pain.

Yours,
Jane
