I am had a tubaligation at the end of February 2012. My ovaries were fine at the time. I started experiencing some pain in lower ab area so I went in and my dr. told my I have endometerois and ardnometorsis(?). So he ordered a sonogram. The sonogram showed my right ovary is good but my left has a Derminoid cyst about 3.5 inches. I am soo disgusted with this. We have decided it would be best to take my uterius and left ovary out. Will the cyst come back?

If the ovary is removed, I don't see how the cyst can come back. But even if JUST THE CYST is removed via cystectomy, the chance of it coming back is quite small. According to this study, cystectomy of a dermoid cyst via laparoscopy has a 7.6% chance of recurrence within two years and 0% if done via laparotomy (full abdominal incision). Here's that study - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17022919.

So did you have a laparoscopy to diagnose the endometriosis? That's generally the only "for sure" way to diagnose it. Adenomyosis is difficult to diagnose too. A hysterectomy regardless of whether or not the ovaries are removed isn't a cure for endo. Oftentimes there are endo implants throughout the pelvis including in the bowels. These are very difficult to remove which will cause endo symptoms to remain or return. This is where the right surgeon comes in. They don't all have the skills to excise these tiny implants throughout the pelvis. If estrogen is taken, it can feed the endo negating the whole point of the surgery. Here's some info on endo - http://women.webmd.com/endometriosis/hysterectomy-for-endometriosis

Just as a man's sex organs have functions beyond reproduction, so do a woman's sex organs. Their functions can be compromised with the removal of an organ. If you do a search for "pubmed ovarian failure after hysterectomy" you'll see a number of studies.
