I am 39 years old and for most of my life I have been tired, I could sleep all day get up for a few hours then go right back to sleep. I have been tested for thyroid, sugar, I've lost weight, gained weight (after kids lol) worked out 7 days a week for a year, watched what I ate, You name it, I've probably done it. I just feel drained all the time I have a hard time thinking, I feel like I walk around in a fog all day, hard time focusing. I've been this way my whole life and at this point I'm not sure what to ask my Dr. to do. We have recently moved so I have had to get a new Dr. and i'm sure she will run all the routine tests....again, and i'm sure they will be fine, so what now? what do i ask for? Oh and I have tried a multi-vitamin. I'm just tired of being tired
Thank you
Tara

Other possibilities that come to mind are mononucleosis and Epstein-Barr virus but since these generally run their course and then became dormant, they're unlikely to be the cause. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is also a possibility and is thought to have a number of possible triggers.
you mentioned mono, I forgot I did have mono but I had it when I was around 8 or 9 years old. Dr thought I caught it from a drinking fountain? Don't remember much about it but could that be affecting me all these years later still? I know it goes away but I think someone told me it makes you tired easily for the rest of your life? Not sure. Will check out web sites as well, Thank you so much
A complete thyroid panel would include antibodies to see if you have Hashimoto's (which is much more common in women than men). Some people complain of feeling like they have a lump in their throat. Even if you don't have the goiter any more, it more than likely compromised your thyroid function. It seems like that would show on your lab results though. Again, maybe you're in the normal range but on the hypo side of normal.
Best of luck in finding a solution to your problem. I sincerely pray your problem is as simple as mine as my life is so much easier now!!
Just a thought.
