I am 23 years old.

Up until age 21 the pain had been bad, but tolerable. I have been a vegetarian since the 8th grade. on and off since the 4th grade. Cheese has caused blockage so I try to avoid that around my period- but is a regular item in my food choices otherwise. I am in extreme pain- to the point of tears almost. I can't function properly with constipation occuring on day 1-3 at the start of my period. I do not know how to avoid pain. I drank water and ate plums and a little fiber and still feel constipated and in agony. I plan to get on birth control- heard that helps. Any advice until then. I tried apple cider vinegar nasty n smell irritated me- but semi helped. Midol works best- but I can't swallow pills. Last four times I have resorted to attempting to swallow pills. Bread only works sometimes....Any advice is appreciated.

Buy a box of Fiber One cereal (the original). Begin consuming 1/2 cup per day. Every day. Slowly increase this to 1 cup per day.

This is THE highest fiber cereal on the market. It will take care of the constipation.

Thank you! Best answer I've gotten so far... I have tried orange juice, tea, green vegetables, oatmeal- this worked best

Midol also seems to help, but I have difficulty swallowing pills- got one down by chugging water and a few through swallowing pieces of a wawa hoagie roll [pill inside>

Once again; thanks!!
