Tampons and Vaginal exams

Today I went to take a shower and was about to take a shower when, all of a sudden, I could not find a string. I about had a heart attack. I was for sure that I had put one in this morning. So, rather than being sorry, I went to my local urgent care and had them check to see if maybe it had got lodged in there somehow and I just could not get it out. The doctor said she could not see anything in there, but after the exam told me to call her if I had any discharge or smell. She also told me to use pads for the rest of my period. Which must have stopped, because I am not bleeding anymore. Could she have missed it? What are the chances? I left the office more worried than when I came in.

If she used a speculum, she was able to see your entire vagina so it would be a pretty safe assumption that she was right.
