I am 31 years old. I have been trying to get pregnant and been using hthe ovulation calendar on the website. According to the calendar it would have been day of implantation and I started what I'm assuming to be my period. It's dark brown when I wipe and this evening I've started having severe cramps. Bad enough it's hard to get up and down and it hurts when I am layind down even. Constant. I've never hhurt like this. Should I go to a doctor? I have two children already. Both were high risk pregnancies due to premature births with both.

Jane Harrison Hohner, RN, RNP responded:
Dear ParsonsA: If the pain is persisting you should contact your OB/GYN or clinic. Implantation of a blastocyst does not usually prompt severe pain. Some other causes of pain and erratic bleeding can include a ruptured ovarian cyst, or a ruptured ectopic pregnancy (more likely to occur well after implantation time).

Yours,
Jane
