Cramps without period

I believe I am going through menopause I have only had 3 periods this year but I keep getting cramps like menus trial cramps without a period. I don't normally cramp when I do have a period. Should I see the doctor?

Dear An: You did not share your age, but there can be other reasons for missing periods which could also prompt pelvic pain Thses can include an ovarian cyst or, more rarely, a hematometria (menstrual fluid retained inside the uterus from an occluded cervical canal). Yes, given that cramping is not normal for you your should see your GYN. A thorough history, pelvic exam, and ultrasound if indicated, can establish the most "for sure" answer for the pain.
