Mamogram for the first time

Hi, I'm looking for a little information about mammograms and their results. On my last annual check up I was told I have a movable mass that's about 8 mm on my right breast. I truly not sure if it has been there or if its new since I touch a lot of other masses there. My question is after I'm done with the mammogram what's next. What is it that they are able to see in the results.

I have never had this procedure before and hate to do this it is not necessary.

I'll appreciate your input.

They may do an ultrasound, biopsy or just watch it. When I was 25 years old I had my first lump and had it removed. (Benign) Over the next ten years I had four biopsies done and the surgeon checked me ever 3 to 4 months for any change in the lumps I had. At 35 I had enough, I had most of each breast removed and had implants put in at the same time. This surgery is not bad, makes you sore and my breast look very natural.

They can a lot from a mammogram and an ultersound.

I still get a mammogram ever year because there is some breast tissue.

Just stay in front of this. Take care and keep us posted.

Thank you for your reply. I forgot about ultrasounds.. this seems less invasive thatn having a biopsy done. I really would love to avoid having a biopsy. If you don't mind me asking why did you decide to remove the breast if you had no cancerous cells?
