After the birth of my twins I got this really crazy rash on my neck. Sometimes it flares up really bad and spreads down my shoulders and chest. Has this happened to anyone else?

Jane Harrison Hohner, RN, RNP responded:
Dear Trod: Dang, the only thing I can think of that MIGHT be specific to the postpartum time would be PUPPS. Usually it is seen during pregnancy (eg third trimester), but I suppose it could flare during postpartum. Here is a link to a general overview, including pictures. If it sounds like what you might have you can do a Google search for more specific information:

Your best bet is to see your MD at the time the rash is present. If they cannot diagnose it they might refer you to a dermatologist.

Congrats on your twins; you must be one busy mom!

Yours,
Jane
