Month Long Periods

When I first started my period when I was 11, everything was normal. I hhad surprisingly regualar cycles, just four days long from the nineteenth to the twenty-second, pretty light, nothing big. But as I neared by fourteenth birthday they started getting off kilter. They were only a day but were extremely heavy, in the middle of that year I had a period that lasted through the month of july through august. All 30 days, ever since then it's been rocky. They can be two weeks long and heavy with extremely bad cramps that leave me bed-ridden or they can be months long but light and on and off, skipping a day or so sometimes I have one at the beginning of the month that lasts a week and a half and another at the end of the month. I've tried birth control and it helped a bit, lessened them to only two weeks and not two months but that was about it. It's been like this for three years now, Sometimes I cramp so bad I can't get out of bed, I can barely eat and suck down water like I've been in the heat. I just don't know what to do. Tips?
