am 22 and my periods are usualy the same. normal flow and last about 5 to 6 days. But something has been concerning me. During my cycle from begining to end i have these clotts and strings of really thick blood. Some larger than other. One was thick and large enough i could acutualy poke at it. Yes that is nasty but i was curious ha ha. I hear from other woman that they have this too but i want to know if it is something i should check out. I am not on any medications or even birth control and i am very active. So i have no idea why this is happening. Please help me.

It's important to understand that a menstrual period is not just bleeding; it is the sloughing off of the uterine lining which is not needed that cycle (since pregnancy did not occur) and is thus passed out of the body.

What looks like blood clots are really these pieces of lining being passed out of your body.
