Long period means...
intheknownow posted:
I've had my period for 12 days now. Does this just sometimes happen? I'm 40 and never had it last so long before. I looked back and saw 3 of my previous 4 periods were shorter than usual (20-22 day cycle v. my usual 26 day) and I remember at least 1 being pretty short (3 days). So is my body now just making up for that? I have a regular GYN visit scheduled next month anyway, so will bring it up then, but this is just annoying. The last few days, it almost stops by evening, but when I wake in the am, I feel crampy (not horribly so) and bam! there it is again!
Just curious what's going on - and hoping it isn't the new normal.

Having your period for over 7 days is not normal and definitely needs to be checked out by a doctor.
