IUD Expired?

Zaq0987 posted:
Hi,

I have had my Minera IUD for a little over 4 years. I normally would have periods only 4-6 times a year. In the last 2 months I have had 4 periods. I know when I had the IUD placed they said it would be good for up to 5 years. Has it expired or would something else possibly be causing this?

Please help.

A more important question is does four episodes of bleeding in 2 months all represent menstrual periods or is there another medical reason for all this bleeding.

Even without the IUD it is not normal to have four episodes of bleeding in a 2 month timeline.
